Alumni

Our dancers have gone on to pursue interesting and varied lives. Some of them are still dancing, and all are still benefiting from the discipline and skills learned from years of dance training. Here are a few of their updates: 

Emily Chung is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge working on 19th century British Urban History. She is Vice President of the Cambridge University Ballet Club and teaches weekly Adult Ballet classes. (PHOTO)

Katrine Dailey is a PhD candidate at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in Biochemistry. She is excited to be performing with BCB again this year.

Chelsea Carpenter Gil is a digital product designer living in Oakland with her husband and two sons. 

Ana Castillo James is getting a masters in social work from the University of Chicago where she has also joined the school’s ballet company.

Karen Lapointe owns a Pilates studio where she specializes in rehabilitation and working with dancers, Olympic athletes, and the aging community. She is also a coach and teacher for Diablo Ballet.

Olivia Lee worked in NYC in a marketing position at Hearst Magazine after graduating from Harvard, and then got her MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is now back in NYC working for a marketing science institute.

Molly Levy is dancing and teaching dance in the Bay Area.

Neomi Marquina is currently a nursing school student in the Bay Area. 

Ivy Li Nunziata is living in New York City with her husband and three children. Her daughter is starting ballet and her little brothers all enjoy dancing along. One of their favorite family traditions is going to see the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. Ivy is working at a philanthropic foundation managing digital communications. (PHOTO of Ivy dancing)

Sarah-Lynn Oiknine is pursuing her Masters in Psychology from Northwestern University and taking as many ballet classes as she can in her free time.

Sophia Halimah Parker is pursuing her MFA in Theatre with a concentration in Dramaturgy from Columbia University. In 2019, she graduated from Fordham College at Lincoln Center and The Ailey’s School’s joint B.F.A in Dance program. Between 2018 and 2021, she was a member of Sidra Bell Dance New York and performed across the U.S and internationally. Currently, Sophia lives in Brooklyn and freelance as a dancer, dramaturg, and movement director.
